Neuroscience Centre, Rigshospitalet
The Neuroscience Centre at Rigshospitalet encompass Department of Neurology, Department of Neurophysiology, Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Neuroanaesthesiology, Department of Brain and Spinal Cord Injury, Department of Traumatic Stress, and Department of Anaesthesiology, Pain and Respiratory Support. With seven specialized departments and multiple research units, it integrates clinical expertise with cutting-edge research to advance patient care. Key research areas include cerebrovascular diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, neuroanesthesia, sleep disorders, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, neurorehabilitation, and personalized neurosurgery.
The Cerebrovascular Research Group studies stroke incidence, diagnosis, and rehabilitation, while CONICA focuses on neuroanesthesia and intensive care for brain and spinal cord injuries. The Danish Multiple Sclerosis Center leads research in MS and neuroimmunology, and the Danish Headache Center is internationally recognized for migraine and headache treatment. Other research groups focus on neurophysiology, neuromuscular diseases, dementia, and pain management. The Personalized Neurosurgery Research Center (PERNS) connects clinical and preclinical research to improve neurosurgical treatments. Through national and international collaborations, the Neurocentre ensures continuous advancements in neurology, neurosurgery, and neurointensive care offering specialized, research-based care to patients.
