Mette-Charlotte Marklund is a Chief Physician in Radiology with a PhD from the Parker Institute and a Master of Management Development (MMD) from Copenhagen Business School (CBS). She currently serves as Chief Physician at the Department of Radiology, Nordsjællands Hospital.

Her research has included the development of advanced MRI-based methods to improve diagnostic accuracy in patients with head and neck cancer. Through her clinical and research activities, she has contributed to strengthening the use of diagnostic imaging as a key tool in modern patient assessment and treatment.

In addition to her clinical and research work, Mette-Charlotte Marklund is actively engaged in developing new solutions to address challenges in healthcare. Among other initiatives, she works with innovative approaches to reducing bottlenecks in patient pathways through interdisciplinary collaboration and by creating opportunities for new competency profiles, including employees with autism spectrum disorders. Furthermore, she is passionate about leadership development and advocates for making leadership simpler, more visual, and more accessible through the concept of Picturing Leadership.

 

Nordsjællands Hospital (NOH) is a key regional and emergency hospital in the Capital Region, focusing its research on common and frequent diseases to improve patient care and maintain its competitive edge.

Research at NOH is driven by strong interdisciplinary collaborations, with initiatives led by both physicians and professional bachelors. The Department of Diagnostic Imaging, including Radiology and Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine, plays a crucial role in research, osteoporosis, dose care, oncology and interdisciplinary research such as chronical fatigue and dizziness.

To foster continuous innovation, the hospital allocates 1% of its annual budget to clinical research, funding joint research positions, post-docs, PhD scholarships, and project grants, ensuring the integration of research into clinical practice. NOH also has a dedicated research unit, led by Thea Kølsen Fischer, who heads the large-scale INFLUENZER project, focusing on infectious disease research.

The hospital follows a structured research strategy, emphasizing clinical impact, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation to enhance patient treatment and healthcare efficiency.
