About Bjørn Ebdrup : Bjørn Ebdrup is a clinical professor specializing in psychiatry, focusing on psychosis, schizophrenia, and severe mental illnesses. His research integrates neuroimaging, pharmacology, and clinical trials, with significant contributions to first-episode psychosis, antipsychotic-naïve patients, and treatment-resistant schizophrenia. He has contributed to understanding psychosis neurobiology, dopamine modulation, and the use of machine learning for predicting treatment outcomes. His studies also address metabolic health in mental illness and the effects of physical activity, alongside developmental factors such as vitamin D's role in neuropsychiatry. Prof. Ebdrup's work advances clinical practice and mental health care strategies.

The Psychiatric Research Unit is dedicated to advancing evidence-based treatment through research closely integrated with clinical practice. Collaboration between clinicians, psychologists, neurologists, molecular biologists, and biostatisticians ensures a comprehensive approach to mental health research. Key focus areas include affective disorders, psychosis—particularly schizophrenia—psychiatric genetics, and early intervention strategies. Future research will emphasize eating disorders and psychotherapy while strengthening the link between research and patient care. The unit collaborates with leading institutions, including the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, and the Technical University of Denmark, to enhance understanding and improve treatment outcomes.
