TUH MedTech Innovation Workshop
Organized in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University
Course Overview
This intensive two-day program is designed for clinicians, researchers, engineers, and entrepreneurs who are passionate about shaping the future of healthcare through medical technology innovation. Participants will gain a practical understanding of the MedTech innovation pipeline—from identifying unmet clinical needs to developing viable solutions, navigating regulatory and reimbursement pathways, and bringing MedTech innovation to market.
During the course, the participants expect to gain insights into:
- Need-driven innovation and prototyping
- Intellectual Property (IP) strategy
- Basic regulatory requirements for Medical Devices and AI software
- How to build a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Clinical validation
- Developing a business plan
- Reimbursement Strategies in Different Health Care Systems
- Market Access / Health Economy analysis

Format
exercises. Participants will work in multidisciplinary teams using the Johns Hopkins
Center for Bioengineering Innovation & Design (CBID) methodology for MedTech
innovation. The teams will work on cases based on real clinical needs and conclude
the workshop with a pitch competition, offering a prize to the winning team.
